He describes what each person he encountered was like and he also took care to describe the towns that the trrain passed through. Also he describes the girl colette in alot of detail and talks about all the things he remembers about her and how he felt about it. Was he there at all? He shows meta awerness.

In light of what I know now, I can understand how the mind is able to accomplish such a feat. From what we have read, its easy to see cases and examples of how people tend to consciously and subconsciously forget memories that are emotionally charged and traumatic. This is referred to as selective amnesia in the field of psychology.

Posted on on December 13th, 2010. This reminds of the time when we had Freedom Fries instead of French Fries just because the French disagreed with our decision to invade Iraq. Though this is a negative example, it still shows how powerful memories can be to associate themselves with seemingly insignificant things like the color of ceiling designs and food names.
